Minnesota boasts one of the healthiest populations in the country; and, once you spend time in the lovely valley of the St. Croix River, you'll know why. No one wants to stay inside when there are so many opportunities to enjoy the outside! You can bike or drive to a number of well managed State Parks including William O’Brien State Park, located just north of Stillwater where you'll find great hiking trails which nip and tuck around wildlife areas through woods and prairie.
Willow River and Afton State Parks also offer great hiking and a place to run with your leashed dog. All three parks offer tent camping. Jump back on your bike and head toward St. Paul on the Gateway Trail or tuck your swimming suit in your pack and cycle to Square Lake to take a swim. Great fishing can also be had at Square Lake or grab a guide in Stillwater for some river fishing where huge catfish and sturgeons are reported.
On the River The St. Croix River provides a bounty of recreation for boaters, fishermen and lemonade sippers alike.
